The Wheel has been my favorite prop for some time now.
It helps me practice my backends as well as pincha and handstand in a way that transformed my practice.
The Dharma Yoga Wheel™ was invented by Sri Dharma Mittra in 1977 as a tool to loosen the muscles of the back, help reshape the posture, and provide support in deep backbends. Since its market popularity began in 2015 through his son, Yogi Varuna, the DYW™ has become an incredibly valuable tool for yoga practitioners worldwide.
The new design has become available in the UK from the beginning of 2019. The material and weight are improved. It is currently covered by the material of the well know Liforme yoga mat, with longer durability and grip.
It is currently mainly sold by certified yoga teachers and studios. I’m glad to have found a yoga teacher that is selling them online. Through the two links below, you can reach her landing page and make an order. Once you insert the address, you’ll get an estimate for the price of shipping.
There are only two colors available: black and purple, so don’t confuse it with the other available options of yoga wheels.
The only downside to purchasing this wheel is the price, as it’s more expensive than the others.
I also have the green wheel, which I like. It is cheaper and lighter and can be found for purchase easily.
I think it’s good enough for backbends and flexibility, but the grip is not the same, and it gives less confidence when practicing pincha for example.
